Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that can harness those abilities and amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal tissue.

What is plasma and what are platelets? Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood. It is composed largely of water and proteins, and it provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate through the body. Platelets, also called thrombocytes, are blood cells that cause blood clots and other necessary growth healing functions. Platelet activation plays a key role in the body's natural healing process.

  • With a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment personally designed for you by our physicians, we will take you one step closer to fighting hair loss that has already begun and stopping it in its tracks before it worsens. The procedure is minimally-invasive and produces some of the best results available on the market.

Our approach is completely natural and safe. Your PRP hair transplant procedure will involve blood drawn from your own body to stimulate the rejuvenation of hair follicles. The entire procedure is done at our office and our team of physicians have your best interest in mind at every step of the way.

  • Your PRP treatment at Divinity Wellness Center offers solutions that are two-fold: the procedure will stimulate hair regrowth while working to slow down future hair loss. As the name suggests, the procedure works through injections of blood with a particularly high concentration of plasma, injected directly into the patient’s hair follicles.

The platelet-rich blood is drawn from the patient, plasma is separated in a centrifuge, and the injection is then positioned into the various locations around the scalp that are being targeted. The special, micro needle is extremely thin and the great majority of our patients report little to no pain. And, because the blood is drawn from the patient’s own body, the risk of complication or rejection is eliminated.

  • PRP is an out-patient procedure, which means there is no surgery involved and downtime is minimal. The innovative treatment produces results are reliable and natural in the least invasive way. The procedure can produce great results as a stand-alone treatment, but can also be recommended in conjunction with other hair loss techniques. It is important that patients understand that results can be slow and gradual. Generally, results will begin to transpire after the first two or three months, and will be most noticeable around the six-month mark. Our physicians will create a customized treatment plan after a detailed consultation.

  • Hair loss can occur in both men and women, and this procedure is designed with that in mind. PRP is equally effective as a way to counteract female pattern baldness as it is for our male patients. The best candidates for a PRP treatment are patients who have slight to moderate hair loss, and who are committed to the recommendations made for treatment.

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is known as a “natural filler” treatment that gives a more youthful appearance to the skin with minimal downtime. There are virtually no risks of allergies or sensitivity as PRP is derived from your own blood. PRP is actually blood plasma containing high concentrations of platelets that stimulate stem cells to help the body regenerate and heal at a faster rate. PRP improves overall skin texture, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes, and plumps hollowing areas such as tear trough grooves, cheeks, and temples. PRP can also help smooth both acne and surgical scars.

  • PRP Facial Rejuvenation takes about an hour to complete. A topical numbing cream may be applied 1 hour before the treatment to the treatment area to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Next, 1-4 vials of blood are drawn and centrifuged to separate out a layer of concentrated plasma rich cells, platelets and growth factors. This layer is then extracted and injected into the skin using very fine needles. Patients typically experience mild stinging during the procedure. Injecting PRP directly into the tissue allows your body to absorb and fully utilize all the benefits of your extracted platelet rich plasma.

  • PRP facial rejuvenation naturally stimulates your body’s own collagen production, and it takes about three months for maximum collagen regeneration to occur. Most patients notice an improvement in their skin texture in the first month after the treatment. It is recommended to have 2-3 treatments spaced at 6- 8 week intervals. The results of PRP rejuvenation are long term with most patients receiving touch up treatments at one year to further stimulate collagen production and continued facial rejuvenation.

Ozone Therapy

Do you know about ozone therapy?

What is Ozone Therapy? Ozone therapy is the use of medical grade ozone (O3), a highly reactive form of pure oxygen, to create a curative response in the body. The body has the potential to renew and regenerate itself. When it becomes sick it is because this potential has been blocked. The reactive properties of ozone stimulate the body to remove many of these impediments thus allowing the body to do what it does best – heal itself.

Ozone therapy was introduced into the United States in the early 1980s, and has been increasingly used in recent decades. It has been found useful in various diseases:

  • It activates the immune system in infectious diseases.

  • It improves the cellular utilization of oxygen that reduces ischemia in cardiovascular diseases, and in many of the infirmities of aging.

  • It causes the release of growth factors that stimulate damaged joints and degenerative discs to regenerate.

  • It can dramatically reduce or even eliminate many cases of chronic pain through its action on pain receptors.

  • Published papers have demonstrated its healing effects on interstitial cystitis, chronic hepatitis, herpes infections, dental infections, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen chamber

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy? Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treats chronic wounds and other medical conditions. Room air contains 21% oxygen, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides you with air that contains 100% oxygen. A pressurized chamber delivers oxygen that’s two to three times higher than normal air pressure, which helps your lungs gather and absorb more oxygen. Oxygen helps the tissues in your body heal and withstand infections.

Healthcare providers use hyperbaric oxygen therapy alone or with other medical treatments, such as medications or surgery. Most people receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy on an outpatient basis for one to two hours each session. Depending on the type of treatment, you may sit or lie down during the procedure.

Other names for hyperbaric oxygen therapy include HBO therapy or HBOT.

  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help treat the following:

    • Air or gas bubbles in your blood vessels (air or gas embolism).

    • The bends (decompression sickness).

    • Burns.

    • Carbon monoxide poisoning.

    • Gangrene caused by the bacteria Clostridium (gas gangrene).

    • Hearing loss.

    • Injuries that cut or break your skin (wounds).

    • Loss of vision.

    • Radiation injuries.

    • Severe anemia.

    • Severe bone and skin infections.

    • Skin grafts.

    • Trauma from force or pressure on a body part (crush injury).

  • Yes, there are unapproved uses of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

    • Age-related symptoms or conditions (anti-aging).

    • Cerebral palsy.

    • COVID-19.

    • Depression.

    • Hair loss (alopecia).

    • HIV and AIDS.

    • Migraine headaches.

    • Sports injuries.

    • Strokes.

  • Yes, hyperbaric oxygen is healthy. It’s pure oxygen, which helps your immune system fight bacteria and generate stem cells. Stem cells are special cells in your body that help create other types of important cells, including blood cells, brain cells and muscle cells.

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps your body heal. To work properly, the tissues in your body must have enough oxygen. If your tissues are injured, they need even more oxygen. The increased pressure in hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps your blood carry oxygen through your body, especially injured tissues. It also helps your white blood cells protect your body from infection.

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions usually last between one and two hours. Your healthcare provider may schedule sessions once a week or five days a week for up to 30 or more total sessions.

  • No, some people shouldn’t receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It may be dangerous to receive it if you have:

    • A collapsed lung (pneumothorax).

    • A lung disease that may increase your risk of getting a collapsed lung, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and emphysema.

    • A fever or cold.

    • Recently injured your ear.

    • Recently had ear surgery.
